Works part of the £3.5mill Scampi line extension

Recognised as the largest Scampi factory in the world, turning out more than a million portions of the seafood dish per week, Whitby Seafoods has an expansion programme to increase its production by over 20%.

As part of that expansion, Unite managed the decommissioning of the Galloway Seafoods site in Newton Stewart.

Works included the removal of the facility Spiral Freezer (incl components) along with the newly installed Scampi Fryer.

Health and Safety of all operatives during the dismantling of key structures was closely monitored, followed by the construction of new walls once the equipment was removed.

Decommissioning of services and the purging of key chemicals, such as ammonia, complicated the disconnection and crane lifting of the facilities generators and external plant, prior to its re-siting at the 40,000sqft facility north of Whitby.
