Project – Bolton Wood Saw Mill Extension

Location – Bolton Lane, Bradford

Client – Berry and Marshall

Contract – JCT 2016 Design and Build

Value – £100,000

Having quarried stoned at Bolton Lane for 20 years, Berry and Marshall’s forward orderbook with Leeds City Council and other Local Authorities required them to prepare all Yorkshire Stone Paving on site. To meet the volume required a New Saw Mill was required.

Unite Construction worked with Dudley Engineers to Design and Build an Industrial Building to contain the new machinery. Asbestos contamination was addressed prior to the foundations being constructed. As it was located on the Quarry floor, finding good ground was not an issue, however, extensive rock breaking had to be undertaken. Followed by the construction of the cladded portal frame structure.

Works were closely coordinated with the ongoing quarrying operations and the building handed over on time for the machinery installation.
